Fire Warning

So I'm up and running on Ubuntu but I'm having the expected difficulties with all the applications and plug-ins needed. They refuse to work even when I manage to load them. I feel like just setting the whole thing on fire. I'm still determined but I'm worried the projector may never work though - that's a prospect that might scare me back to Mr Gate$....
